Textbook Rental Information

Spring 2022 rental return deadline:

Spring 2022 rentals are due due by the close of business at 5:00 PM on May 16, 2022.

Rental Returns are at the cash register. Please contact us if you have questions or concerns about meeting this deadline at books@uccs.edu. Do not return rentals in the library drop box! You may not receive credit for them.

All Rentals are due at end of semester the first Monday after finals (exception in terms where the campus is closed the Monday after finals week; in this case rentals are due back the Saturday of finals week). We will be open the Saturday of finals/commencement week, campus permitting. If a book is not returned by the established due date, you are charged the replacement price for the book (retail price-rental price paid + $2 fee).

Rental insurance

Rental Insurance is available! It is $4.95 per book and must be added to each book on the order. It covers water damage and physical damage. To add rental insurance add item number E928 to your order or type in the notes that you want rental insurance. Rental insurance is non-refundable.

Rental refunds

Rental refunds follow the UCCS Bookstore refund Policy. Rental books can be refunded 7 days after purchase until Census Date. Rental refunds typically take longer to show back up on the account they were charged from. Books are not returnable after Census Date.

Rental period

Books are rented for a single course term.

Renting a book

To rent a book online simply select the rental option (if available) for the book and go to checkout like normal. A book in store that can be rented will have rental pricing either new or used on the tag in the Bookstore. To rent a book in store go up to checkout register and let the cashier know you would like to rent the book.

Returning rentals

At the end of term simply bring the book back to the UCCS bookstore. If the rental book that is returned is damaged you will be charged the difference between the rental price paid and the price of the book at the time of return, plus a nominal processing fee. Carefully inspect each book at rental pick up for damage prior to accepting a rental title, as students are responsible for inspecting books for damage prior to rental. This is done with the cashier at checkout or with the online associate at pick-up. If shipped, we rigourously inspect rentals that are shipped to you and ship only damage-free textbooks. If damage occurs during shipment, the student MUST report the damage immediately to the bookstore or the student will be responsible for the damage at the end of the term.

Keeping a rental book

If you would like to keep a rental book past the rental period simply come to the UCCS bookstore and pay the difference between the rental price and purchase price of the book.

Rental book is lost/damaged

We reserve the right to determine what constitutes damage. In general, a book with liquid damage of any kind, missing pages, damage to the binding, torn or missing covers are considered as damaged. If you have rental insurance on the book it is covered as rental insurance covers liquid and physical damage and you will not be charged. Otherwise, for a book that damaged or lost, you will be charged the difference the purchase price of the book and your rental price plus a nominal processing fee.

Not returning a rental book

All Rentals are due at end of semester the first Monday after finals (exception being if the campus is closed the Monday following finals; in this case all rental books are due back the Saturday of finals week). If a book is not returned by that point you are charged the difference of your rental price and the purchase price of the book.
